Hello Charlie Rock Friends and Family, Today begins week 6 of Basic Combat Training. In the last week, your Soldiers have finished up rifle marksmanship. They put on an M68 (Close Combat Optic) which through the sight allows them to see a red dot on the target so they have to spend less time trying to aim. Also they learned to use the PEQ-15 which is another aiming device that allows a visible laser to be placed on the target and at night an infrared laser that is not visible to the naked eye. Your Soldiers also learned to use night vision googles so they could be able to see that infrared laser and destroy the targets at night. Once they learned those pieces of equipment, we added barriers. This allowed your Soldiers the ability to transition from different positions behind cover, engage the enemy, and learn to do quick magazine changes to continue to destroy the targets. Doing night fires, your Soldiers have been spending long hours at night training. Your Soldiers have also started to get an introduction into medical care. This allows your Soldiers the training to take immediate care of their battle buddies in case of a serious injury. 9/11 was this week as well. Chaplain Lee was able to spend sometime talking to the Soldiers about 9/11 and its significance to us. In the upcoming week, your Soldiers will be expending a lot of physical energy and having many late nights. This upcoming week for some maybe the most exhausting. Some events are Urban Assualt, Army Physical Fitness Test 2, Night Infiltration Course, Confidence Course, Foot March 3 (approx 7.2 miles), and Field Training Exercise 2. Always Forward
