Hello Everyone! Just a quick update on what took place at the hearing yesterday... Bella is okay to be released without any fees or mandatory requirements, except must be spayed and properly licensed and her home will be inspected by an animal control officer prior to her release. Athena, Pixie and Hercules were deemed Potentially Dangerous. The following restrictions on ownership are: Dogs shall be properly licensed, microchipped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated prior to the release of our dogs. Owners of the dogs are required to maintain general liability insurance covering property damage and bodily injury caused by a potentially dangerous dog with a combined single limit of $300,000.00 per occurrence which all dog owners must show proof of insurance within 14 calendar days after the hearing, as well as all charges for services performed by the department and all fines must be paid prior to the release of all dogs to their owner within 14 calendar days. The dogs are required to wear a bright reflective collar visible at 50 feet in normal daylight (which must be purchased at the animal shelter). Dogs must complete an obedience course for a minimum of 10 hours of training with their owner within 60 calendar days after release of our dogs. The course shall be a course approved by the dept. prior to the release of our dogs. All dog owners homes must be inspected and approved in writing by the dept. before they release our dogs back to us. We must have our dogs wear a muzzle while off our premises. We have a follow-up hearing date to ensure compliance with all conditions imposed. Hearing date is January 15, 2014. We were informed that we may request for our dogs to be removed as Potentially Dangerous after 3 years (if there are no incidents within those 3 years). Athena is not permitted to return, be kept or temporarily be housed at my parents property. One of the officers of Dept. of Animal Control did mention to us that they would try and help out with reducing some fees, Im not sure what the total of the other dogs fees are due to vaccines, spay and other fees applying to them. Athena is spayed, all vaccines are up to date and she is properly licensed. Fees for Athena are an estimate of about seven to eight hundred dollars. I will talk to the other dogs owners so they can give an update as well. Thank you all for your concerns and all of your SUPPORT we greatly appreciate it!!!!
