Hello Facebook friends. Just wanted to share an experience we recently had- I hope this just might help you avoid the same situation. Yesterday, someone took a check out of our office mail box, doctored it to make himself the recipient, took it to our bank and tried to cash it. A bank teller felt suspicious and called to verify that I had indeed given this person the check, which of course I had not. The bank kept my check. He left the North Meridian Branch and went to the downtown branch and tried again with another check. My crook was not too smart but obviously had produced several checks. The bank president, Bob Huff- my new hero- confronted him. Of course the guy turned around and walked out of the bank. Bob followed him, called the police, and as far as I know he is still in jail. I met with detectives today and have been informed that this type of thing has been happening. I was told that a gold van has been going around, getting mail, reproducing checks inside the van with a sophisticated scanner and printer and then going inside bank to cash. Moral to the story, be careful with what you put in your mail box.
