Hello, Family and Friends! The new Facebook Messaging app for phones is a highly invasive app that will monitor your communications, contacts, browser history, and can even listen in with audio and video to your face to face conversations at work and in private when you are not even using your phone. Yes, even when you think it is off and in your pocket. Further, Facebook is now requiring the download and installation of their messaging app on any mobile devices that wish to use messaging features, and have now disabled the old style built in messaging features. Since I use Facebook almost exclusively on my phone, I must download the app in order to use any facebook messaging.I refuse to do that. I am sad to report, therefore, that I will no longer be able to send or reply to any messages or invitations that use facebook. Anyone who wishes to contact me personally will have to send me an email or phone me. If you are as horrified and disgusted as me about this invasion of privacy, uninstall the app and repost this text into your own status, and together we can show facebook what they are NOT allowed to do. And make no mistake, I WILL cancel my account and stop using Facebook altogether if I must. Best wishes to all as you each grapple with how much invasion of your privacy you are willing to tolerate.
