Hello Friends, Here is an update on todays equal timeletter. I spent 30 minutes this morning talking with an expert FCC attorney in Washington DC. He said that in order for the radio station to provide equal time, an official complaint would first have to be filed by one of the candidates or an official member of their campaign committee as identified in their FCC filing papers. The letter was written by 2 people who ARE NOT officially part of anyones campaign. The attorney suggested I personally speak to the other candidates and explain that this is how I make a living and I cannot afford to lose my income until after the election. Today I did this. I spoke to all 4 other candidates. Dave Turner, Mike Cimolino and Mark Iacueniello all stated they have no intention of filing a complaint with the FCC demanding equal time. They all agreed my show is entertainment and not political. However, Heidi Kraut stated she was familiar with the contents of the letter and may want some equal time . She said she will talk to her campaign committee this weekend and contact the station next week. I also called the co-author of the letter and, after a lengthy conversation, he said he is not going to pursue this nor spend any more time on it. I will continue to be able to make a living and never have nor never will use the microphone as a platform or pulpit to espouse my political views. I may tell some bad jokes, but I dont intend to become one either. Stay tuned. If Kraut does demand equal time and files an official complaint, this could get interesting!
