Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today… Here is the link for mobile users: wp.me/pQyzQ-JY Dear Lord, As we see the devastation in the Philippines, it is a harsh reminder of how little we control in this world. When we see devastation from any natural disaster, we all realize that it doesn’t matter if we live in poverty in a country like Haiti, or in an affluent city like New York, when it gets down to the basics, we are all the same. We are all just visiting this place…it is not our home and we are all in desperate need of a Savior. Lord, we see and hear about death and disasters regularly. No one escapes it. Some see it more than others. Those in war-torn areas live daily with bombings, shootings and other physical threats. Some know all to well about suffering and death, because they live in poverty…whether it’s in small villages throughout the world, or on the hidden streets of slums in places like Los Angeles. Some of us are never called to live with such extreme burdens, but when it comes down to it, no one escapes suffering, death or dying in this life…it just comes in different forms and varying amounts for each of us. What we are reminded of in times of tragedy Lord, is we all suffer the ravaging effects of a corrupt and dying world. We see, as Paul says in Romans, the groaning that all creation experiences, because of sin in the world. We feel pain as we watch others suffer. We have heavy hearts as we watch as people’s worlds are devastated. We mourn with those who mourn. We get a visual reminder, of what things are truly important. We realize that life is fragile and fleeting and that we waste way too much time on things that do not matter in light of eternity. Everything in this life will pass, but only what is done for Christ will last. Lord, what we need to remind ourselves of in times like these, is that you are sovereign. You do not waste pain or suffering…and you are still good through it all. You will use these trials and pain to transform us… if we allow you to. Though we will suffer and struggle in this life, we have a hope and a promise that all things will be worked together for good for those who love you. Tragedies help us to appreciate and look forward to, what is waiting ahead. One day there will be a new earth and heaven. There will be no super storms or earthquakes… or houses and material things that can be demolished or destroyed. We will trade in the things that are perishable here, for the imperishable things of glory. Lord, we are imperfectly human and our brains can’t begin to understand everything in this life…but one day we will clearly see and understand as the veil is removed and all is revealed…but until that time Lord, we cling to you and we say, “the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord”. We stand united together as we pray Lord…standing in the gap for all that are heartbroken today…we stand in the gap and lift up all the fearful, anxious and worried as they wonder about loved ones…as they wonder what is going to happen to them as they watch everything they’ve known change overnight. We join together as one voice and know because where two or more are gathered you are in our midst. You see the tears and hear the cries and you are grieving right along with us. Lord, we pray in the midst of all the pain around the world today, for those who are crying out to you and asking “Where are you God”…we pray that they will feel your presence envelop them, so they will know you are faithful to never leave or forsake them. We love you, Lord and we thank you that we have a Savior in whose name we can pray. Amen My thoughts and prayers are with you all! You are loved, Debbie
