Hello Jacksonville! Admin here, how are you tonight? I have been talking to the manager about the upcoming tentative movies coming to us for the holiday season. I cant give away much today, because our holiday list isnt permanent at this time. Many of our regulars know that the Illinois is no longer part of the Kerasotes movie chain. For those of you who are new to our area: the Illinois is an independent theater owned by Dr. Peter Karras in Springfield. Over the past 4 years. Dr. Karras has accomplished extensive remodeling to our historic building. The balcony has been reopened as two separate auditoriums, and a fifth auditorium built onto the side of the original building. Two handicapped accessible restrooms were added, as well as a facelift for the existing restrooms. The marquee outside was replaced with the large lighted Illinois sign and the poster cases added. All five auditoriums have been equipped with digital projectors and the sound system upgraded. Open captioned movies are possible on all projectors; the studio must provide that version of the movie on the hard drive we are sent. A separate company handles the complicated process of choosing which movies to show at the Illinois. We would like to ask our customers for their help. We are an independent theater in a sea of chain theaters. This makes it difficult to get the rights to show the best of all the movies that are available each month. The Illinois Theater needs our customers to give us their opinions on what they want to see at our theater. WE NEED BUZZ...CREATE SOME CHATTER!
