Hello, Liverpool. We’ve had some truly awesome submissions - TopicsExpress

Hello, Liverpool. We’ve had some truly awesome submissions this month – thank you! Three awesome projects will pitch their proposals to us on Monday, when we’ll decide the winner of our £500 September gift. Our finalists are: • Synaesthesia Feast will combine music, food and visuals to create a feast for the senses. The Science Bit: synaesthesia is defined as a sensation usually found in one sense modality when another sense is stimulated. In other words, some people will associate the bitter taste of a lemon with a high-pitched squeaky sound, a spiky font and a bright white colour. Following the recent Sound Bites taster session at Camp and Furnace, Synaesthesia Feast is scheduled for mid-September and will take place in the Gallery ONE space at FACT. A group of visual artists, musicians and chefs will deliver a four course multi-sensory feast for guests. The project has been created by Ella Perry, who is studying a Masters in Psychological Research Methods at Lancaster University, with a focus on Synaesthesia and Cross-modal Correspondences. synaesthesiafeast.tumblr • Beerdfest will bring together beards, music and food in a celebration of hirsute pursuits on Friday, 29 November. Beerdfest is the creation of Jodie Schofield, a radio producer, events manager and musician who has been described as a human whirlwind. Following a successful Beerdfest 2012, Jodie plans to make this year’s event bigger, better and hairier than the last! The launch party happens at Camp and Furnace on Friday, 30 August, where beard-growers can learn about the competitive elements of Beerdfest 2013. Who knows whether any of our Awesome Trustees will be tempted to take part…? beerdfest.co.uk • LoveCraft will bring a monthly pop-up craft fair to unloved or unused spaces in Liverpool city centre. Tackling the issue of empty shops and promoting independent business, LoveCraft will set out its stalls in an empty shop unit or unused space. LoveCraft has been created by Jenny Lamb. By day, Jenny is a Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire teaching youth and community work. By night, Jenny is a cape-wearing craftivista, passionate about local talent and independent business. Jenny makes and sells her own wooden crafts and runs a monthly Craft Fair at Fishergate Shopping Centre, Preston. sophiasinfluence.co.uk We’re looking forward to some interesting pitches – and will announce the winner on Monday evening. Applications are now open for the Awesome Liverpool October gift. Find out more at: awesomefoundation.org/en/chapters/liverpool
