Hello , My name is Victoria Longstaff and on behalf of Lorna Haymes the co-founder of a social media campaign called #GetYourBellyOut, I am contacting you regarding an event that has been organised. Our group principally raises awareness of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) such as Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.We also offer support to our 3000 members with help and advice, whilst they may be going through the various stages of the illnesses, including multiple hospital visits and operations. We also raise funds for our parent charity Crohns and Colitis UK, Lorna personally works closely with them, offering a liaison between the two groups and working on new ways to achieve our aims. In March 2015, the #GetYourBellyOut group will be having our one year anniversary. To date, we have raised over £20,000 for CCUK through merchandising, raffles, regional meet-ups and more awareness campaigns. To celebrate this, we are holding a 1st Anniversary Birthday Ball at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. An event on a national scale has never been attempted for people with IBD and it will be attended by up to five hundred people. The diseases that we suffer from are themselves very debilitating making it hard sometimes to even leave the house, just one of the many parts of this painful and at times socially isolating illness. The purpose of our Ball is not only to celebrate our Birthday, but to bring together people who up until now have only chatted over the internet and to provide an entertaining and fun evening to meet others in the same situation, aiming ultimately to give confidence back to those, especially the younger sufferers amongst us. We also intend to use the Ball as a fund raiser, which brings me to the purpose of my letter to you today. I would like to respectfully enquire whether your company would be generous enough to donate either Gift Vouchers, or items that we can offer as Raffle prizes or lots in a Charity Auction that we have planned for the night of the Ball. Also if you could offer any form of donation with the decorations aspect that would also be very helpful. We have discovered this past year, that despite all the health problems our members struggle through on a daily basis, they have proved to be extremely generous with their money, in the hope that one day, the funds raised through research, will eventually lead to a cure.
