Hello Neighbor, I hope you and your family are doing well as we continue to rebuild and revitalize the West End. My apologies for not communicating more frequently lately, but I have been doing a lot of travel for work lately and have not had a chance to catch up. The one thing I have been learning on my travels is that I can get better cell service almost anywhere I go in the world, including developing countries, than I can get here in Long Beach. Go figure…. The official start of summer is nearly upon us, but for those of us on the barrier island the season started a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has not been too cooperative this month, as we are having one of the wettest June’s ever. With any luck, we will catch a break soon, since this year we could all use a really good summer. Hopefully, this news will get the summer off to a great start. The West End Neighbor Civic Association (WENCA) is happy to announce that we will again be doing Movies Nights on the Beach. For those of you that did not come to one last year, that is where we set a big movie screen up on the beach and show a family friendly movie. It is a great chance to spend some quality time with your family and your neighbors. Last year’s movies were a big success and we are happy that we can do it again this year. This year there will be three movie nights, one more than last year. The first Movie Night on the Beach will be Sunday, June 30th at 8:30 PM on Virginia Avenue Beach. We will be showing Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, starring Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, Michael Caine and Josh Hutcherson. Come see this movie about a young adventurer and his quest to a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. So tell your neighbors, grabs those beach chairs and blankets and come on down to Virginia Avenue Beach on June 30th. WENCA will also host Movie Night on the Beach on July 21 and August 25.
