Hello Outdoor Adventure Club Members & Parents, Time has been flying by as summer arrives slowly but surely and school comes to an end. I am sad to announce that this Saturday will be our final Outdoor Adventure for this season, but we will return in September and the adventures will be better than ever! This Saturday I invite you all, friends and families included, to join us in tackling Tunk Mountain, located just outside of Cherryfield in the Blackwoods. It will be our most challenging adventure of the year but the experience and views from the top of this Washington County hidden gem are worth every step. There will be 10 spots available in the van for Outdoor Adventure Club members and I encourage all families to consider following us to the mountain and join in the fun. The hike is longer than what is usually allotted in an outing club day so we will be leaving earlier than usual and arriving a bit later. The schedule will be as follows: 7:30 pick-up at the CCLC 7:45 pick-up at Archibald’s 8:00 pick-up and departure from Machias Irving 9:00 arrival at the base of Tunk Mountain 9:00-11:30 summiting Tunk Mountain 11:30-12:30 Lunch and Mountain Top Exploration 12:30-3 Head back to Tunk Mountain Base 3-4 travel back to Machias Irving 4:15 drop off at Archibald’s 4:30 Drop-off at CCLC Please make sure if your child plans to attend that they pack their back pack accordingly. Their packs must include adequate food, water, and a change of clothes. Appropriate footwear is a must and with the arrival of summer sun, protective clothing including hats, sunscreen, and bug spray are a must. I also encourage all members to check out the CCLC website for information on our Summer camp series. The link is: cclc.me/page/911-2373/summer-camps for more information and to register. We will be offering 2 levels of camp, for ages 7-12, and for 10-13 year olds. There is something available for all skill and age levels. So join in the fun and tell all your friends! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to respond to this e-mail or call me directly at 259-1104 or 271-7657. You may also contact our program director Valerie Lawson at 733-2332. I hope you all can join us the club’s final Outdoor Adventure! Cheers, Bobbi-Jo
