Hello Ridgeland High School! Announcements of 9/11/14 Today is Patriot Day. Please take pause to remember the victims and their families from the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and The Pentagon. Please know that in accordance with this National Observance, we will have a second moment of silence at 8:46 A.M. this morning. Our character education theme of the week is Speak with Good Purpose – I’ve learned that people will forget what your said, people will forget what your did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” – Maya Angelou - {Attention 1st block teachers, please be sure to check and address dress code DAILY} Attention 9th graders who attended CVMS - CVMS Yearbooks are in the main office. - All lunch applications need to be turned in as soon as possible whether you are applying for reduced lunch or not. This information is extremely important to the data collection of Walker County Schools and we are shooting for a goal of 100% participation. Thank you for your support in this matter. Need Panther Pride gear for the first home football game? See Coach Pritchett in room 305 or visit the Panther Print Shop in room 402. Also look for the mobile carts this week at lunch on Thursday. The Panther Pride Patrol will have a meeting for paid members on Thursday at 7:30 am in room 305 to plan for Friday’s home football game. Members should have their membership card for a pass down the hall. Student Government Association will be holding elections for class officers on September 17 during homeroom. Any student interested in running for office, please see Mrs. Tahler in room 104 to pick up an application. Applications must be picked up by September 5 and must be turned in by September 10. - Officer Coker has made sweeps of the parking lot for parking decals. Many vehicles have received warning citations this week. Starting Monday (9/8/14), we will begin issuing citations to vehicles without parking permits. Citations may result in school discipline or fines. Please do not drive to school next week without a yellow Ridgeland High School parking permit affixed to your rear view mirror. FBLA Job Shadow Day will be held on September 17. If you are a member of FBLA and would like to participate, please see Mrs. Pritchett to pick up the paperwork. To attend the first meeting on September 10, dues MUST be paid BEFORE the meeting. The Trading Card Game Club will begin after-school meetings at Ridgeland in Room #138. These meetings will be held every Monday starting September 8th. Each meeting will begin at 3:45 PM and end at 5:00 PM. To Parents of Seniors: Senior salutes will be sold at the first home football game. If you would like to purchase an ad for your graduating senior, stop by the journalism booth before the game. FFA BBQ Fundraiser from 3-7 pm on Friday September 12 before our first home football game. The tickets are $6.00 and can be purchased anytime from now until Friday from any FFA member or Mr. Davis and Ms. McGregor. The BBQ plate can be picked up by the greenhouse between 3:00 and 7:00. Students who have signed up for HOSA: Please have your $25 club membership dues turned into Mrs. Sparks in room 313 by the first club meeting which will be 9/24/14. Also, any junior or senior members of HOSA who would like to be considered for club leadership (president, etc), please stop by and see Mrs. Sparks. FCCLA Announcements: The dues are $15. We are a B club and you still have time to come by and see Ms. Harrison or Ms. Cooper and pay your dues or find out how you can get your dues paid with a fundraiser. We meet in two weeks. FCCLA will be going this weekend to work at FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN at the Chattanooga Convention Center. On October 4 FCCLA will be working the Ronald McDonald Autumn Festival. FCCLA members come by and see Ms. Harrison if you are interested. The Ronald McDonald house needs your name, email address and t-shirt size. Every Tuesday FCCLA will be horse walking at Eagles Rest Ranch. - Basketball Cheerleader tryouts will be October 22. There will be a mandatory clinic Monday October 20 and Tuesday October 21 from 3:30-5:00. Packets will be available in from Mrs. Bailey, in room 1014, starting September 15 and must be returned no later than October 17. -The Seventh Annual Area I Special Olympics Equestrian Program is going to be held Saturday, October 25th at the Eagles Rest Ranch in Flintstone, GA. The training starts next Tuesday and it is on a first come, first serve basis. Cowboys and cowgirls need to get signed up as quickly as possible. For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Mrs. West. For those who have signed up to help with Special Olympics, please remember we will need help this afternoon (9/9/14)! If you have questions stop by and ask Mrs. West. Monday (9-8-14) * Coaches Meeting at 7:30AM in the theater. - The Trading Card Game Club will meet from 3:45 to 5:00 in Room #138. Tuesday (9-9-14) * Science Advance at AEC 7:45-3:45. - Graduation Task Force 3:45 room 1003…2nd Tuesday of each month - Cross Country runners will run at Heritage High School on Tuesday at 5:00. Girls and guys will all run together for a practice meet - Softball hosts LaFayette. First pitch at 5:55. - Volleyball competes at SE Whitfield against SE and Pickens beginning at 6:00. Wednesday (9-10-14) - A Clubs meet. Thursday (9-11-14): * Social Studies Advance at AEC 7:45-3:45. - National Honor Society will have a meeting on Thursday, September 11 at 7:30 AM in room 132. - JV Football competes @ SE Whitfield at 5:00. - Volleyball competes at Lakeview against Lakeview and Heritage beginning at 5:00. - Softball competes at SE Whitfield at 7:00. Friday (9-12-14): * Pep Rally Schedule! - Please plan to attend our first home football game as our band, cheerleaders, JROTC and football programs host Dade County. Kickoff is at 7:30!
