Hello South Shore families, Thanks to all of our students and families who make a Saturday commitment to Math with Mr. Alston, Soccer with Ms. Howe and Frisbee with Mr. Quigley ~ three exceptional enrichment programs that our staff and community provide! Your learning and your team support are remarkable and infectious! Keep it up! I would also like to thank our playground supervisor Jeremi Oliver who works each day to make sure our playground and neighborhood is safe -- last week, he went the extra mile. This week at South Shore we have an early dismissal on Wednesday. Please make sure that pick up and after school care are arranged. Elementary is dismissed at 12:15 and Middle School is dismissed at 12:30. As a reminder, South Shore does not celebrate Halloween during the school day. Students should not wear costumes or bring candied treats to share. We will however have a School Spirit PEP RALLY for our Middle Schoolers...lets see who can be loud and proud in sixth, seventh and eighth grade! Please make sure that students are arriving on time -- as the weather and the early darkness slow the routines, it is important the students arrive on time each day. Every minute counts when students are chronically late or absent. On time...every day! Coming up... • November 3 is Picture Day (PreK and retakes!) • November 7 is Community Kitchens Potlach • November 11 there is no school • November 24-27 there is no school due to Conferences and Thanksgiving Finally, I know that the school shooting in Marysville touches each of us who work on behalf of kids in our community in profound ways. We continue to strive toward exceptional practices in school safety - we are continually working toward noticing gaps and practicing our routines. Your childs safety is the most important part of my commitment at South Shore. Together with the South Shore Administrative team and our colleagues at Rainier Beach, South Lake and Dunlap, we are pulling together to make ensure we offer a safe, calm and supportive school climate here on the corner of Rainier and Henderson. As always, please let me know if you have feedback on any noticings or concerns. Be well and hug your kids, Laurie Morrison - Head Sea Dragon
