Hello Veggie Gardeners. It’s Live Question Time again. Is your sweetcorn taller than you? Have the tassels have dropped their pollen all over the place and are the silks are turning brown and do the cobs look fat? How do you know when they are ready to harvest? The silks should have just turned brown and are starting to wither. Through the husk, the cob should feel fat and full up the full length. It should also be sticking out from the stalk at quite an angle. Or you can open it up at the top and have a wee look. The kernels should be fat and yellow. Prick a tiny hole. The juice should look a little milky. If it is clear, then the corn needs a little longer so wrap the husk back up and try again in a couple of days. No juice means you have left it too long. If you have any questions about sweetcorn or anything about veggies at all - ask now. I will be here LIVE on Facebook for the next half hour!
