Hello again, readers. Welcome back to Sunnys Days of Summer! Allow me to share with you my most recent conversation with the Facebook lady. Lady: Sunny! Ive been looking all over for you! Me: You found me. Surprise. Im in the cat kitchen — playing in the sink. Lady: Everyone really enjoyed your last post. You got a lot of positive feedback on the story you wrote about Trixie! Me: It was an essay. Lady: Essay...story... Either way, it was great, and people liked it. Could you write another story? Me: ESSAY! Lady: Okay, an essay about another cat for Adopt-A-Cat-Month? All right! Even though I dont understand why my faithful readers want to know about any one else but me, I decided to comply. Here is an ESSAY about two of friends of mine who live in Sassys Room. Black Beauty and The Champ — An essay by Sunny D (the Facebook sensation) Theres a little room on the right of our corridor. The room is called Sassys Room. Its named after a cat who once lived at the Fredericton SPCA. The room is a special place where cats who arent thriving in the regular cat rooms can live. I once lived there myself. Right now, there are four amazing cats living in Sassys Room. Ill tell you about each one. First, theres Black Beauty. She is soft, sweet, quiet, and never says a bad word about anybody. Shes had a tough life. She was originally brought to the FSPCA by the NBSPCA after she was rescued from an abandoned house. Shes quite shy, so it took her a long time to get adopted. Then, suddenly she showed up at the FSPCA door again, as a stray. So, that adoption didnt last. The funny thing is, Black Beauty always believes that life is going to get better. Shes an optimist. Then theres Champ. Champ arrived as a stray. She has a character I understand. When she first moved in, she hissed at everyone and swatted any of the workers who got near her. I thought she had some great cat-titude, but then the animal care technicians discovered she wasnt feeling well and thats what made her so grumpy. Once she had some antibiotics and got a tooth or two fixed, she became really nice. I was a little disappointed to see her reform so easily. Black Beauty was really nervous when she first returned to the FSPCA. Shed already been through a lot. She wasnt talking to anybody, just keeping to herself until the cat staff put her in Sassys room and then added The Champ. They became fast friends right away. Champ likes having somebody to take care of, and Black Beauty felt more secure being with Champ. There are two more cats in Sassys Room that Ill tell you about next post. Ive worked enough for now. I want to go lie down and have a quick siesta. Maybe Ill have just a wee bite of tuna first. In the meantime, why dont you come meet Beauty and the Champ? Theyre a team of classic cats. Until next time, fans!
