Hello all. I wanted to pass along some unfortunate news. You all may or may not remember Herb Petro from our class. If not, I recommend dusting off your yearbooks and taking a quick look. He has been a very close friend of mine since High School and we continue to be close friends today. In June 2011 Herb was diagnosed with a Grade IV brain tumor. He underwent two brain surgeries and multiple Chemo sessions, plus aggressive drug treatments, to try and hold the cancer at bay. Unfortunately, time is nearing its end for Herb. He only has control of his right arm and has to be moved by others from his bed to his scooter. He is still able to communicate fairly effectively but is much slower to process things than he was just a month ago. Though some days are not so good and he has to rest most of the day. He is married to Jennifer, who has stood by his side through his entire struggle and has been an amazing person for Herb. Together they have four wonderful children, Jack, Nathan, Daniel, and Caitlyn. Jack is 18 and at UNCC. Nathan is 17 and a senior in High School. Daniel is 13 and is in eighth grade and their youngest, Caitlyn, is 12 and in seventh grade. Please keep Herb and his family in your thoughts.
