Hello all. The food bank where I work,at Unity in the Community Day Centre is having a hard time getting food, in spite of the sudden popularity of food banks in general. It runs on Tuesday mornings, so it would be best for us to get food on Monday evening or very early on Tuesday mornings. Our main target is helping asylum seekers, who, being non-british, do not appreciate baked beans or other default caned food. Potatoes and onions, as well as fresh vegetables, are most appreciated. This food bank is not stepping into a place that should be filled by state welfare, but is instead fighting a government policy. The Home Office tries to force asylum seekers into destitution and hunger, in order to make them leave the UK. We help them survive while their case is examined and can become valuable members of Scottish communities.
