Hello all, The meeting last night went amazing, we had a good turnout & we got some decisions made :) one of the items that happened last night was voting in a new Board of directors for Strive. I am also sending this email to people who I think may want to be involved in Strive or Fury...If that is you great, if you want to be removed from future emails please let me know & I will make sure we remove you :) if you want to be added to the email list please send me your contact info, phone & email. Studies have shown that kids who participate in sport and other community-based activities and who are exposed to positive life experiences with strong mentorship are more likely to: o Achieve better academic results o Maintain a healthier body image o Increase their interpersonal skills o Develop and maintain feelings of high self-esteem o Develop strong team building abilities o Do better in school The premiere event for the STRIVE YOUTH SOCIETY is the annual Fury in the Foothills Street Hockey Tournament. Now in its 5th year, the street hockey tournament is more than simply a great event…It is an opportunity to show our community spirit, to engage our kids in physical activity, promote healthy competition, celebrate sportsmanship and above all HAVE FUN! The bigger picture is about helping children STRIVE towards their goals. With this is mind, we intend to offer the Strength Finder Program to help our youth identify their strengths and fulfill their potential. We are also pursuing partnerships with other local organizations to offer youth-centered events in our community. Our ultimate goal would be to establish a Strive Youth Centre that would allow us to have a greater direct impact with the youth in our community.
