Hello all in Tok this is Chief Morris with the Tok VFD. As winter approaches and the weather gets colder its time to think about cleaning your chimney on your wood stove. Its a good time to do this before it gets any colder. Also on a note about firewood be sure to burn the driest wood that you can get. Green or unseasoned wood will create more creosote in your stove pipe when you have a low burning fire. If you have a fire or think that you have a fire either call 911 to contact Fairbanks Dispatch or better yet call 883-8888 as this is the direct pager number. You will hear a pre-recorded message stating You have reached the Tok Vol. Fire Dept. after the tone press one and state your emergency when you hear this and press ONE on your phone and start talking. Our pagers will have already tone out and we will be hearing what you are saying.
