Hello dear Hannelore suppawters... The year is coming to an end and a new year will start soon. Not something that makes a great difference for Hannelore and her proteges as the struggles just continues. To help Hannelore a little to start the new year on a more positive note have put together a list of things she urgently needs. Please share and help if and when you can. Hannelore has no more help from Kostas as the finances are low and she could not afford to pay him. The location of the shelter is so that she gets lots of freak weather... violent storms in the colder seasons and extreme heat and risk of wildfires in the hotter seasons. She works from 7.00 until sometimes 22.00 h every day, seven days a week. It is not just feeding the dogs and cats in and around the shelter, but also many strays. There is a lot more than just feeding to do. The suites where groups of dogs live have to be cleaned, the general areas (runs) have to be cleaned, water has to be changed for everyone, medication administered to many dogs, the mobile home she lives in must be cleaned (a big groups of dogs and some cats live there with her). Blankets and towels have to be washed, errands need to be run, food donations (old bread fro the local bakery for example) has to be collected, emergencies need to be attended to (especially the old and sick and the odd stray she finds on her numerous runs). The list goes on. Right now the weather is not very kind to Hannelore. It is wet and cold and the cheapest way to keep the home dry and warm is to use a very old and unsafe heater. Not just unsafe for Hannelore but also the dogs and cats that are inside with her. So... here at last the list of things you can help Hannelore with this winter... besides financial help that is: 1 - Lysine for Nana, Hannelores little black old dog whos turning blind. 2 - needles to inject Toly with insulin he needs twice daily (H uses 60/month) 3 - help to buy a new gas heater (about EUR 100), the current one is dangerous and broke down a few times already... the mobile home needs a heat source as otherwise t will build up mold and Hannelore and the animals who sleep with her will get ill. 4 - money for food, costs per month in winter are - eur 1600 lower quality maintenance dry food and eur 460 veterinary diet food (Toly, Marlon, Lovy, Happy, Riana and PsiPsi) 5 - a home for the dogs, most urgent is XXL pup Marlon! and long term shelter darling TzeTze.
