Hello everyone! I just took a drive around to assess how the roads are. I probably dont have to tell you they are in very poor condition. The constant snow fall coupled with the winds from yesterday have made roadways a project for our road crews. Here are a couple of thoughts though... 1. To the person driving the Dodge Dakota on CR K who almost ran me off the road. Headlights are required during inclement weather. They are easily turned on by either pushing a button or turning a knob. I am pretty sure all American versions of the automobile are equipped with them. Second, because you have 4x4 doesnt mean you can drive like Dale Earnhardt Jr. I know it must give you a sense of security, but you obviously have not studied how to use the force enough...So stop thinking you are a Jedi road warrior... 2. County roads are poor. White-out conditions make it difficult to see the edge lines, as well as heavy drifting and a large amount of snow still laying on the roadways (average is 2-4). Unable to see any lines whatsoever. 3. Town streets are a little easier to drive due to having land markers to help with edge lines, but there is still a large amount of snow laying on them. And they are slick at intersections. Staying off the roads and parking off-road make it easier for crews to plow and remove the snow. In general, stay home. Street crews are doing their best, but will most likely not do heavy plowing until the snow fall slows down. IF you MUST be out, leave extra time and extra braking distance. HEADLIGHTS (aka Pre-crash Vision Warning System) are REQUIRED. Put them on so others who have to be out can see you! Turn signals (this is for another person who I followed this morning) are NOT optional. They are used when you change direction on any public street. Maybe this fellas blinker fluid was low? A certified mechanic can check it... Anyways, Ive typed enough. Stay home. Play board games, Wii, drink hot chocolate and pop popcorn. Pick up a bible and discuss it with your family. Good day and God Bless all for safety and warmth, Chief McGee
