Hello everyone. Im looking for some input from people that have a better eye for vintage real vs vintage knockoff. I have no doubt that the quilt below is old, but before I talk to the vendor I would like to know a little more about it. I offered $50, but I dont know that it is even worth that. I know, if it is worth that for me to have it, then it is worth it. I just want to be prepared when I talk to the vendor on Monday. I am expecting that they will try to push the price up. I have been pining over this vintage quilt for a while. It is at a local antique shop. I didnt measure and there was no tag but it is around 50x60. The muslin background and backing has a low thread count. The batting is not smooth, somewhat bunched a tad. I love the applique. It is machine sewn I think, but it is intricately done and I like the soft colors. There appears to be a little embroidery here and there, like with the stamens. Some of it looked machined as well and other places look like it was done by hand. I cant really tell if the crochet is handmade. In any event it is quite pretty. There were at least 8 places where the crochet is medium to severely damaged. There is a large light stain on it that looks like it may have been cherry Kool Aid that they tried unsuccessfully to remove. That one is about a 5 stain. There was also at least one small dark stain on the back. The woman running the store seemed to be resistant to just letting me totally lay it out and examine it. She kept bunching it up. I asked the price since there was no tag. She looked it over briefly...did not look it up and said $60. I offered $50. She said she could not call the vendor today and shed check with them on Monday. What do you think? Look these pieces over closely. Each block overall is around 10-12.
