Hello everyone, The petition is close to reaching 30,000 signatures, which will be another significant milestone in the campaign. Thanks to all of you for your support and for spreading the word. Please keep it up, youre doing an amazing job. In the last week Ive met up with a couple of fabulous people, each one a seasoned campaigner, and each really keen to be involved with the campaign, so were looking at how we can work together to build momentum and keep the number of signatures rising. Re-nationalisation is one of the most important issues of our time. It wont happen overnight, but until it does, the energy companies will continue to impose punishing price rises on us, all the while pocketing huge profits and paying enormous dividends to shareholders. Last year, the combined dividends paid to shareholders of EDF, SSE and Centrica (three of the Big Six) were around a staggering 2 billion, 270 million pounds!!! In figures, it looks like this: 2,270,000,000. That is an awful lot of OUR money. Are you angry? Good. Millions of us are. Lets all do our best to get everyone whos angry about energy prices to sign the petition. Some of you volunteered to help with the campaign at local level; Andrew at 38 Degrees has been trying to set up a mail group so that I could contact you all, but due to technical difficulties, this hasnt happened yet.
