Hello everyone, Thursday, 03 July, 2014 I am writing you - TopicsExpress

Hello everyone, Thursday, 03 July, 2014 I am writing you tonight at around 4:24 AM after looking at several different models and information about hurricane Arthur. Normally what I do is watch the news, see what the situation is, and see how close the weathermen normally I watch Jim Howard on WITN or Skip Water on WCTI. Understand, I am not putting down WNCT, I just haven’t watch them very much for a very long time. Then I refer to the National Weather Service Hurricane Center whose web address is nhc.noaa.gov/.shtml . From this site you can select to go to many different sites, which will show you models which will show you the characteristics of the storm and which will show you the storm tracks and much more. I will admit that I have never been trained to be a weatherman, but I have been doing this for approximately 10 to 15 years and normally (but not always) come pretty close whether I agree with the weathermen or not. At this point it seems like Arthur is a category one hurricane and is moving up the coast of the United States directly towards us. The present location is 31.3 N. 79.1 W. If this latitude and longitude intrigues you as to where the hurricane actually is, the latitude at 1062 Hines Dr. Extension (my house) are as follows 35.48 N. 77.38 W. To give you a more familiar location the Greenville Police Department is located at 35.61 N. 77.37 W. so with the differences you can see that the storm needs to move a little more to the west and a little more to the north in order to impact us which I believe will happen within the next 24 hours. It is my prediction that this storm will impact us by 10 p.m. and move very quickly through the area. I believe it will be out of our area by 10 PM Friday. Most of the news services are predicting it to be actively impacting us by midnight tonight at this time. I feel like the storm has not moved far enough north or far enough west yet to impact us. I urge everyone to go into their hurricane preparedness mode even if you plan to go to work Friday you need to carry provisions with you. In case you get caught at work during the middle of the storm or in case you have an accident and are displaced from the road possibly into the woods or possibly into a ditch or canal. Make sure you have plenty of water to drink with you and at home make sure you have some type snacks food with you at home to last approximately 3 days if need be. This storm does not appear to be strong enough for you to have to try to survive for three days on your own however we will experience high winds strong and heavy rains at different periods during the day these conditions will not last continuously however with circulation of the storm these conditions will come and go throughout the night tonight and day Friday. The rotation of the storm will bring these conditions into us and move them away from us periodically throughout this period. Appearance of all the storm models, show that we will be on the strong side of the storm which means if you take where I live I will initially experience winds from the Southeast moving around to the east northeast and moving to the north and ending by moving basically around my house to where winds will eventually come from the West. Then the storm will probably be far enough past that we will not receive much more wind from the south or west. If you would be interested or like to find out the latitude and longitude of your home or the location that you are at you may do so by several different methods some people have devices, navigation devices and their vehicles, and the county provides a service on the Internet named OPIS. Pick can a government homepage you may find this by going under several of the menu items across the top of the page you are looking for OPIS online parcel information system. You would need to press “ACCEPT“ and then go to the left side of the page up or down until you see the words owner, address, or parcel number. At this point you would need to press owner and then turn your attention to the right side of the page. Type in last name first drop-down and then type in first name, press search and you should either come up with the person or persons you’re looking for and the map will automatically go to that parcel or you may come up with a list of people and you will select the person that you are looking for. An example would be yourself and click on yourself and the map will automatically go to your parcel. Now direct your attention to the top of the map and you will see directional arrows, plus and minus signs, and a selection that has double LL’s. Click on the double L’s icon then you will see the latitude and longitude come up underneath the icons that you are looking at across the top of the map. I wish everyone good luck during the storm I do not think it’s going to be as bad as what we have been led to believe however we need to be ready for whatever does come. Keep your cell phone with you and remember that if you need to dial 911 and you are not at your home or you have been unfortunately involved in an accident or you are in water in a ditch or canal, that 911 will be able to find your coordinates through your phone. God bless you all. Remember your pets and do not try to drive through water that is running across the road, I belive Skip Waters put it best “stay out of the water. Dawson Page
