Hello everyone! To all incoming freshmen and new students, welcome to Suffolk University! To all of those returning, welcome back! With the new semester, Video Gamers Army is officially starting up another year of activities for you all to participate in. Our first official VGA meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 10th in Donahue 638B. You can find this room on the sixth floor of the Donahue building (41 Temple Street), directly to the right of the elevators. Returning members, please note that this is a different location than the previous semesters. This meeting and all of the following meetings will take place during activities period, from 1 – 2:30 PM. During this meeting, you will be able to get to know both e-board and the other VGA members, and be informed more in detail of the plans Video Gamers Army has for the semester and how to get involved. After this date, we will hold VGA meetings every Tuesday and Thursday that classes are in session, unless stated otherwise. VGA will also be setting up a booth at the Temple Street Fair on Thursday, September 19th. The Temple Street Fair will be held on Temple Street (outside of the Donahue Building) from 12 – 2 PM. Here you can stop by our booth and say hello, and also check out other clubs and organizations that you can get involved with. As always, there will be free food and freebies at this event, so be sure to check it out! Not receiving enough submissions to hold a proper poll, we have decided to extend the logo contest to run through the month of September. This will both allow current members to continue to brainstorm and work on designs, as well as allow new members to get involved and participate. You can view the details of the event by visiting https://facebook/events/274262359378650/ Video Gamers Army will also be putting together a short video to describe our members and represent the club. This video is open to all VGA members, both Suffolk and non-Suffolk students. If you want to participate, please submit a video, no longer than five minutes, of yourself answering the question “What do video games mean to you?”. Your response can be anything ranging from the definition of a video game to a super personal story related to gaming. We will accept anything, assuming it does not include explicit or offensive content/language. We will then edit parts of everyone’s videos together to make one awesome collaboration video. Please record yourself in front of a plain white background with minimal background noise. If you are having a hard time finding a spot to record, you can do so in the video game lounge, located in 422. The deadline to submit a video will be October 1st. If you do not have any equipment to record yourself, you can e-mail Jenn at JACapezzuto@gmail and set up a date and time to record using our camera and software. Our first VGA tournament will be held on Friday, October 11th in the Donahue Café. The game featured at this tournament will be Injustice: Gods Among Us. Registration is free, and there will be prizes for the winners and free pizza provided. For more details on the event and how to register, you can either e-mail SuffolkVGA@Gmail or visit https://facebook/events/612700825418591/ Our second tournament of the semester will be held on Friday, November 8th in the Donahue Café. The game featured during this tournament is yet to be determined. However, you can pre-register for this event by e-mailing SuffolkVGA@Gmail or by visiting https://facebook/events/545644082152266/ . We will gladly take suggestions for which game to feature at this tournament! Lastly, we are always accepting donations to the club. We will accept any playable game for Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and Dreamcast. We will also accept any working controllers and accessories for these systems (excluding the original Xbox), and systems that we do not currently have in our possession. Thank you for taking the time to be part of VGA, and we hope to see you soon! -Suffolk University Video Gamers Army
