Hello everyone and especially my cycling friends (Sharif Durhams, Leviticus Lund, Tom Held, Graeme Reid, Kenneth L Ng). Art City contributor Libby Castro is in the midst of writing a short essay on ghost bikes and is trying to track down some information about those that exist in Milwaukee. For those who may not know, ghost bikes are memorials for individuals whove died in cycling accidents. They are usually bikes, painted all white, and locked to a pole or object near the crash site. So far, we know of two in Milwaukee, one for John Harrington in Bay View and another for Tom Van Hoof in Glendale, near W. Mill Road N. Sydney Place. We have some information about Harringtons memorial from the ghostbikes.org web site. Wed like to know more about who created the memorial for Van Hoof and if there are other such memorials in the area. Thank you in advance for sharing what you know with Libby.
