Hello everyone and for those of you who have been following these post I have a request. I received an email from Commissioner Cheryl Williams who has been working with TxDot trying to get FM 2514 speed limits lowered to a safer level. A lot of people have been involved in accidents on this stretch of highway and as we (Wylie) grows we are going to have more issues in the future. Some of us have lost loved ones on this due to accidents, my family lost my grandson on Christmas Day of 2012, Susan Washington lost her daughter Alexis and others have died on this road. Since Jan 1, 2008 Until December 31, 2012 there have been 68 Minor Accidents, 69 Major Accidents, 5 Fatalities and 7 hit and runs on this stretch of highway. A lot of these could have been avoided by simply making the speed limit so as to be safe for all who travel the road. It seems like TxDot has come back and told commissioner Williams that they looked at the numbers and basically said there have not been enough accidents on this road to warrant any changes. Quote from the email I received was “There was nothing in the accident data we looked at that indicated a specific problem area along the corridor.” I will post it on the Facebook page “Wylie, Texas FM2514”. My question is just how many does it take. I will continue to try and get the speed limits changed and want to thank Cheryl Williams for all she is doing to assist in this matter. Please go and Like and Friend this page and if you have had any accidents or even close calls post to the site. In a 1 mile stretch there are 4 Memorials of deaths on 2514. That is entirely to many. Im asking for your help in getting the word out on this stretch of highway so we can avoid any other memorials. Wylie is a fast growing town and we need our Government officials to realize we want a safe place to raise our kids and grandkids. Susan thank you for all you have done I know you have gone thru some hard times after Alexis was killed and so have we since Rylans Death. I will continue to try to get this taken care of and am asking for your assistance (everyone) to get the word out about what we as a community want to see happen. Thank you all so much.
