Hello folks. I want to bring something rather concerning to all of you/us. As some of you know, there is development activity in the Clark Road area. The other day we received a notification from the Otter Point Volunteer Fire Department saying fire conditions were extreme and no explosives or industrial activity was permitted in the area. Yesterday there was blasting etc. on Clark Road. I messaged the Fire Department to ask if the fire danger had lessened as we could hear, and feel, blasting. Today I received a reply from the OPVFD. The short answer is they investigated and have determined the area is out of their jurisdiction and they cannot do anything about this high risk activity and they have passed the information on to Forests Land and Water. We have just had a fire scare here in the Kemp Lake/Otter Point area. I think its fair to say we had a close call. I find it rather insane that a developer can thumb its nose at the authorities and carry on with high (fire) risk activities and put those of us who actually live here, our properties and livestock and pets and loved ones in danger. I am informing MLA John Horgan and CRD Director Mike Hicks about this. Who will stand up for the residents of Otter Point?
