Hello friends, Another week has gone by, unfortunately it was - TopicsExpress

Hello friends, Another week has gone by, unfortunately it was another eventful one in our household. Ben started out the week recuperating from being sick and I tried to go back to work on Tuesday. I made it five hours, but my cough had been so bad and the rusty taste in my mouth from the tears in my throat were so awful, I called my doctor and he prescribed me antibiotics, I had my mom bring them to work in hopes of getting it in my system faster, but they were so strong that I was dizzy and nauseous, so I headed back home. Over the next few days the cough got worse and my lungs and back started to hurt, so off to the doctor I went. We did an exam and a chest x-ray and thank my lucky stars it didnt turn out to be pneumonia, just a severe case of bronchitis. The antibiotics I am on are for pneumonia (or the plague) and are 750mg. Strong stuff, I have to stay out of any sunlight while on them as it can cause blistering. Thanks mom, Maryann Shinrock for spending the day at the doctor with me. Ive been taking the medicine and using the inhaler all week and I am finally getting better again. I spent the week pretty sick. The last few days I have been trying to get out on some bike rides with Ben. Weve had to make sure our bike rides are in the evening due to the antibiotics. I only made it a mile on Friday, it was really tough still. I had a hard time breathing. Today though I was much clearer and hardly any coughing and made it 4 miles, which is a record for me. We had a few visits from Momma Denice Avon, Dan Cole, and Steph Shinrock which were great! Otherwise, over this weekend, Ben and I spent some much needed together time with neither of us being super sick. We definitely needed it. I was sad to not be able to head back to work, but I am so susceptible to getting sick that I am just avoiding crowds and no visits from anyone sick. Just trying to occupy my time. Going to do some more research this week and call University of Iowa about my fertility options as without doing something I have a 0-5% chance of fertility after the stem cell transplant, which for me is heartbreaking as my dream has always been to have my own babies. Im not going to let cancer take this dream without a fight. My only other concern has been my weakened body. Not only are my gums being impacted, making it very painful to brush my teeth; I am also bruising all over my body from the chemo. I hit my leg today getting out of the car and it has a huge lump and is black and blue. I havent mentioned this to my doctor yet, so not sure what to think. Love you all and thank you for the donations, flowers, planning events and visits that I have been getting. It is so touching how many people out there are standing with Ben and I. It brings tears to my eyes daily. I truly believe that even through all of this, I am blessed and it is because of all of you. I will let you know what I find out over the week about the fertility options. Love you all, bye for now. -Crystal Shinrock
