Hello friends, First off, we want to say THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS! The offer from the City of Fayetteville to acquire the land adjacent to Gulley Park for $1.1 million was signed and returned to the city on Monday. This is huge! We cannot thank you all enough for your support. Now, we still have a little bit of work to do. Here is where we stand so far: The City took $700,000 that it was going to spend on park renovations and combined it with $270,000 from Ward 4 in order to offer $970,000 to acquire the land. This was the amount the land was appraised at and therefore it is the maximum the City can offer. The remaining $130,000 was pledged by the Cow Paddy Foundation and the Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association (FNHA). There are two houses on the property, one of which may be sold toward paying back Ward 4. So, your generous donations are being put towards the $130,000 dollars pledged by the Cow Paddy Foundation and FNHA. This is important to note, because at this point in time we have not raised the full amount. We have applied for several grants to help bridge this gap, the largest of which is a matching grant, so we will still be reaching out for financial support. However, we now have a finite goal and are very close to it. Also, City Council MUST APPROVE this acquisition. So, please WRITE, EMAIL, OR CALL your alderman and encourage a yes vote to approve the expansion of Gulley Park. All of their contact information is listed below. Then, attend the city council meeting (TBD) when it comes to vote and show your support. We will make an announcement as soon as we know when this will be. To summarize: THANK YOU!
