Hello hello everyone: Laura and I are going to be in the Welland - TopicsExpress

Hello hello everyone: Laura and I are going to be in the Welland Tribune concerning our Celtic Services the first Sunday of every month. The article was written by Sarah Whitaker and it goes as follows: Music touches our souls in a profound way. That belief and a desire to reach out to those in need of more of Gods presence in their lives is what led Father John Course of St. Davids Anglican Church in Welland to consider a new musical service. I am always conscious of people who do not attend church and are in need of more of Gods presence in their lives and of the love and support of a family of faith, said Father Course, explaining his belief that music touches the soul was what led him to approach the organist at St. Davids, Laura Scott, to see how she could help develop a new music service for the first Sunday of the month. Laura was quite enthusiastic about the idea, says Course. Scott enlisted the services of her husband, Randy, also an accomplished musician, and the two developed the Celtic Music Service at St. Davids. Both Randy and I have played in a Celtic Band so we had experience with the music. When John asked about me about putting together a worship band, it was only natural to use our knowledge of this music and apply it to the hymns, says Scott, adding her husband is always happy to help the church and be part of the music service. Scott explains you can take almost any hymn and once you add the pipes, tin whistle and guitar to the recorded piano, it changes the flavour of the hymn yet it is still remains the familiar hymn for the congregation to sing. This familiarity paired with the variety and uplifting nature of Celtic music is what Scott and Father Course hope will draw more people to church. The first Celtic Music Service was held the first Sunday in November and went very well. Father Course said there has been quite a bit of positive feedback and many told him they were moved by the music and found the entire service uplifting. Randy Scott will also be joining his wife for St. Davids Carol service on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. and at the Christmas Eve Service, which begins at 7 p.m. We hope anyone looking for inspiration and a lift during the Christmas season will visit us at St. Davids, says Father Course. Its wonderful to see people leave church with a look of joy on their faces and feeling much better than when they came in. Laura and Randy Scott, along with friend and fellow musician Linda McKellar, will perform the next Celtic Music Service on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend. It is a really great service and even if you are not religious the music is worth listening to. Talent transcends labels. Cheers, Randy
