Help us save this sweet gal! Please share! In 2014, ACL re-committed to making every effort to ensure that animals coming through our doors with special medical needs would be taken care of. Over the past months we have been able to work together with partners, supporters and our Facebook friends to provide medications, emergency care and surgery to many animals in need. We are now asking for your support with this sweet gal-Amarette. Amarette was adopted out about 8 or 9 years ago and was recently found as a stray by DuPage Animal Control. Animal Control alerted us and we were able to get Amarette back to our shelter. Upon arrival, she appeared to be in bad shape. Underweight and with her coat in bad condition. After a few days of medical care and diagnostics it was found that Amarette is diabetic. As some of you know, Diabetic cats do require extra care and attention-as well as insulin and regular check ups. The animal care team made a decision to work with our vet to get Amarettes diabetes under control and hopefully offer her the opportunity to find a new forever home. We are in desperate need of a foster home for this precious mature gal so that she does not have to be stressed in the shelter. We would be looking for a foster parent who was comfortable giving Amaratte her insulin injections (very easy to learn how to do), and bring her in for regular check ups with our vet.
