Help us tell the world about Palestine. Contribute to the BDS movement! Besieged Gaza, 22 December 2014 -- I am writing today to ask you to consider making a donation to the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee, the largest Palestinian civil society coalition that leads the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement. I live in Gaza, which has been under a hermetic Israeli siege for seven years. We have shortages of everything from electricity and water, to medicines and chocolate. Israel does not allow books, musical instruments or cement into Gaza, so we cannot nourish the brains of our children, nor can we build homes and new schools for them. Israel has been allowed to dehumanize and dispossess Palestinians for decades with impunity. The U.S and international support have given Israel free rein to separate Palestinians, occupy us, impose a regime of apartheid against us and ethnically cleanse us, gradually or at times en masse. But with the BDS movement, were fighting back. Make a donation now to support the BDS movement BDS is a non-violent, volunteer-based human rights movement modeled on the South African anti-apartheid movement. We have managed to get the attention of Israeli and global politicians and complicit businesses by our consistent messaging and persistent activism. We have done so with the support and commitment of a local and global team of dedicated and creative volunteers and supporters who want to end Israeli impunity and Palestinian dispossession. Student governments and unions in the US, Canada, the UK, South Africa and elsewhere have adopted divestment from Israel’s occupation or BDS more generally. Some of the largest pension funds in the world have pulled their investments out of complicit Israeli and international companies. Major academic associations in the US have adopted the academic boycott of Israel. South African trade unions and ministers have supported BDS, and so have tens of thousands of academics in the Arab world, the US, India, Brazil, Australia and Europe. The most well-known physicist of our time, Steven Hawking, has boycotted an Israeli conference. Because of this record, Israel has identified BDS as a “strategic threat” and invested substantial financial and human resources to undermine the work that we do. We cannot, and will not, allow them to succeed. Make a secure donation now and help make sure we can build on this success We have been able to keep fighting and keep true to our principles because we have maintained our financial independence of all governments, corporations, political parties and politically-motivated foundations. In fact, this is our first ever fundraising drive because the time has come to intensify our work, and reach out to global citizens in their millions. We want to continue to be free to voice our objections to Israel loudly and without fear of donor silencing. We need to produce material that help us to reach out to new audiences in diverse places and who speak different languages. We need to tell them about Palestine, and we need to show them that their support can end our oppression. We cannot do it without your help. Israel would like nothing more than for the world to be unaware of the human cost of its crimes and for the world to be silent so that it can continue with its occupation and dispossession of Palestinian lands. Your donation will help make sure that no act of Israeli aggression goes unnoticed or unpunished by the world, and no Palestinian suffering is ignored. Every donation, no matter how small or large, will help us run even harder hitting BDS campaigns. Please visit our Believe. In page now and make a secure donation to support our struggle for freedom, justice and equality. We have an historic opportunity to ensure that Palestinian rights are protected, and that justice prevails. BDS has become a culture of resistance exactly as it had been against the Apartheid Regime of South Africa. We want to reach that phase in which Israel is held accountable. With your support, we hope to make 2015 the year in which BDS reaches new heights. Haidar Eid Palestinian academic and Palestinian Campaign for the Academic & Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) steering committee member P.S. We’re really excited to be able to offer a limited edition t-shirt based on a new BDS animation we just published to anyone who donates $100 or more. You can watch the animation on our appeal page.
