The Belgian midfielder was United’s only notable signing in this summer’s transfer window, arriving from Everton for £27.5m on deadline day, but is an exciting purchase for the Premier League champions after he starred for the Toffees last season. Berg, who played for United between 1997 and 2000 is pleased with the addition of the 25-year-old to this current squad, saying he believes his presence and desire to perform in big games can lift the team to new heights, comparing his influence with that of United legend Cantona, whose signing is now seen as a pivotal moment in United’s recent history.
