Henrys Wednesday morning update 12-10-14: Henrys night started out kinda rough. Nurses cleaned him up which required a lot of turning. This started his aggravation. He then figured out how to get the bite blocks out of his mouth and every time he did they were trying to get his mouth open to put them back in order to keep him from biting his tongue. This really got him upset (of course I wouldnt want it in my mouth either). So to calm him back down they gave him an extra push of sedation and pain medication. This helped him rest peacefully the rest of the night. Doctors and nurses are wanting to find that spot in his sedation medications where he can relax but at the same time start breathing over the ventilator. When he can start breathing over the ventilator they are going to back off the ecmo machine until they can totally remove it.
