Here I am, at home with my three kids, on my own. It feels MAGNIFICENT to be the easy going parent/person that I am. Both my partners, (my ex husband who is their father) and my partner after him had ideas on how children should behave, mollycoddled, filtered, be responsible, what time to go to bed, what is respectful and the rest. My three are well rounded young people aged 18, 17 and 15. I encouraged independence which they all do very well. They have kind, lovely hearts, broad minds and they help me with the house, one cooks, one is a chauffeur and they give hugs when I am a sook and tell me they love me. I have no desire to control who they are or waste my energy trying to make them into someone they are not. I love my kids and I adore not feeling pressured to instil someone elses authoritarian ideas. This is why we laugh, and can live together in peace.
