(Big Islands Only Registered Poetry Slam Event) Saturday, December 6th Honokaa Poetry Slam! Thats right! Were headed to the Honokaa Peoples Theater! Poets Sign-in 6:30-7:00 at the door. The show starts shortly thereafter. (Poet Cap At 22) Share an original piece! Shout, Whisper, Speak! All Styles Welcome… To Those Who Provide Their Support With Gifts!!! Much Thanks to our Sponsors!! Sadly, gone are the days of film; And our beloved Peoples Theater needs our help to move forward. Please join us in the support of this Unique Space which has been the corner stone of Honokaa since the 1930s. Wed love to raise enough to pay a professional to form a People of the Peoples Theatre non-profit that would bring in live events and fund cultural and educational programs at the theatre. Wed love to have community involvement however we can! - Honokaa Peoples Theater Poetry Slam Rules Are The Following: - Each poem must be of the poets own construction. - Each poet gets three minutes (plus a ten second grace period) to read one poem. If the poem goes over time, points will be deducted from the total score. - The poet may not use props, costumes or musical instruments. - Five judges are chosen from the crowd. - Of the scores the poets receive from the five judges, the high and low scores are dropped and the middle three are added together, giving the poet a total score of 0-30. -Parents be aware of possible explicit language.
