Here are some photos of my family and I with our next US Senator, Shenna Bellows. The shot of Maria & I with Shenna is from May 3 of this year at a friend raiser event at The Olds Post Office Cafe just up the road from us in Mount Vernon, Maine. The picture of Jonathan and I with Shenna is from about a month later. The McGovern family of Winthrop proudly endorses Shenna Bellows in her race to replace the woefully out of touch with Maine values Susan Collins. While I refer to her and address her as Shenna today, I will proudly address her as Senator for the rest of my life after the votes are counted tomorrow night. While I respect Susan Collins, she has simply not been a supporter of Maines people or values in her third term. She has consistently voted against a higher minimum wage that would lift many of Maines families out of poverty. She has voted against veterans benefits. She has very audaciously claimed credit for ending Ted Cruzs government shutdown after voting FOR it twice. While she now supports marriage equality, she waited until it became a foregone conclusion in Maine with no political risk until she did. This year, she has embraced the worst examples of far right tea party extremism in the persons of Paul LePage and Bruce Poliquin. Shenna Bellows does now, and will continue to do so in Washington, stand with, speak for and vote for the best interests of Maines veterans, women, LGBT citizens and working families. She has the courage of her convictions and the fortitude to act upon them. Maria and I have never cast a US Senate vote with more pride than our vote for Shenna Bellows! The time has come for a change. The time has come for Shenna Bellows to go to the United States Senate, where she will serve ALL of Maines citizens with dedication and honor...GO SHENNA BELLOWS!!!
