Here are the courses this coming week (Monday August 4th-Friday August 8th) run by Positive Futures at the YMCA in Lancaster unless stated: * All courses will run each week on the days and times specified until further notice. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday August 4th: 1.00-3.00pm: OUT AND ABOUT- Replacing Tittle-Tattle in Lancaster for the summer is our popular walking/talking Social group. This is the perfect group to get out, explore the local area and make friends in the process visiting parks, museums and other sites of interest. Its £2.50 per session and is run by Yvonne. 1.30-3.00pm and 3.00-4.30pm: DOUBLE GUITAR (NEW VENUE*, Morecambe Library) - Double Guitar lessons with Andy. Two classes one after each other to meet the growing demand in a safe friendly environment (Class for players with some knowledge and experience) £4 per session. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday August 5th: 10.00-12.00pm (Morecambe Library) NEW DROP-IN SERVICE. Positive Futures North West in association with Morecambe Library will be present every Tuesday morning to help support anyone with their mental well-being. Come along and meet a trained Positive Futures adviser and how we can help you move forward at your own pace. No appointment necessary. 1.00-3.00pm: SINGING FOR FUN– An Informal singing group suitable for absolute beginners and the absolutely terrified run run by new volunteer Shelley. Its all about fun and socialising and two hours of just singing and pure enjoyment. £2.50 per session. 1.00-3.00pm: ARTS AND CRAFTS LANCASTER: This class is the perfect opportunity to get creative in a safe welcoming environment guided by the brilliant Nigel. Everyone is welcome! £3.00 per session. * ART AND CRAFTS IN MORECAMBE WILL RETURN SOON. MORE DETAILS SHORTLY. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday August 6th: 10.00-12.30pm - LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE MORECAMBE (St Barnabus Church, Morecambe) - This is our main and most popular course run by Jan Gomez supported by a team of volunteers who have been through the course themselves and had their lives changed by it. If you need to build your confidence and self-esteem then this is the course for you. * This course is a 10 week course and is funded by Lancaster Social Prescribing and you must be referred by them to get on the course. 11.00-12.30pm: GUITAR - Guitar lessons with Andy (Class for people with moderate experience) Come learn to play the guitar in a welcoming safe environment. £4 per session. *Please note that Andy is available for private tuition if the times and dates arent convenient. NO READING GROUP THIS WEEK. . ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday August 7th: 10.00-12.00pm - TITTLE-TATTLE IN MORECAMBE- (Morecambe Library) - NEW COURSE ***- Finally one of our most popular and enduring fun classes comes to Morecambe! Our Two brand new volunteers, Wendy and Carol will be hosting our fun social group every Thursday. Its £2.50 per session and is all about informal fun, conversation, the occasional quiz and the more than occasional cake. Everybody welcome 10.00am-12.00pm: MENTORING COURSE: The second week of our fourth Mentoring Course. We are training a new team of mentors to help support people who are managing a mental health difficulty and many find certain aspects of life hard to manage. Mentors must be able to attend ten weeks of training and commit to at least an hour of mentoring a week for six months. 11.00-12.30pm: GUITAR - Guitar lessons with Andy (Class for beginners) Come learn to play the guitar in a welcoming safe environment.£4 per session. *Please note that Andy is available for private tuition if the times and dates arent convenient. 5.00pm-6.30pm: AFRICAN DRUMMING- Yes, Drumming has arrived at last. The lessons are for beginners and will be taught by Bongo Dave Watts assisted by members of the Positive Futures team. Its fantastic fun and easy to learn. No prior experience necessary and the Djembe Drums are provided. We only have a certain amount of drums so you must contact us either by phone or email to declare your interest. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday August 8th: 10.00-12.30pm - This is our main and most popular course run by Jan Gomez supported by a team of volunteers who have been through the course themselves and had their lives changed by it.
