Here are the intellectuals and men of the law who represent Haiti - TopicsExpress

Here are the intellectuals and men of the law who represent Haiti and its citizens at best. If the Haitian media were really working at news worthy level than this video clip would have been one of the thousands that you would have witnessed. Those individuals with such decorum lack thereof would have never known the inside of the parliament room under the Duvalier regime. It is too much to Haitis chagrin for the world to see at what level that the very same elected officials who are supposed to make laws for the people to abide by are breaking everyone of them as if they are all above and exempt from them. The presented scenario looks more like a bunch of confused and distressed slaves more than intellects who worry about the countrys future. When for God sake would we have a diverse assembly or a body of intellectual savvy that truly represents the first black republic? It is with no coincidence that when a Haitian citizen behaves with decorum, has a degree, talent, is articulate or even has a lighter shade that the world doesnt identify him or her as Haitian. We cant blame the world for the image that we have provided them with in the way we represent ourselves. The image or behavior of every single Haitian inside and outside the country will always have an effect on the nation for as long as we breathe. The way we interact with other people, the way we behave at work will either open or close the door for the next Haitian citizen. The change or the image that we seek lies amid the things we routinely do and the way we express ourselves with others. The change we hope to have is the change we should individually make within ourselves as it will reflect on the nation for others will respect the positive image that we project. Why must it be like that? Sadly, you know you are doing something right or positive when a total stranger tells you that you dont look Haitian even when you tell them that you are from Haiti. Of course many of you would ponder over the statement made without realizing that perhaps the approach wasnt necessary about color issue as it could be more about presentation, image and intellect. From the time I took my first breath until today I only know of Haitian leaders and politicians who have continuously brought shame and deception to our forefathers who have died for our liberty. After their vainly demise the quandary episodes continue as Haitis politicians have become a body of beggars or ones who solely depend on foreign aids for survival. They want the gold of Peru while they dont even have scrap metal to exchange for. We produce nothing as a nation, but we think the world owes us anything we need to survive. The Haitians who live in Haiti have denied the Haitian Diaspora their citizenship, but they want to remain close to their pockets for without their hard earnings they would not live to see another season. They are our compatriotes, but they are hypocrites. They are our blood, but they have a much better relationship with our income than they pretend to care for us. Ultimately there is not much of a difference between the Haitians who know how and those who dont if their absence in participating allows the benighted ones to lead them in the same directions. Se sòt ki bay enbesil ki pa pran. The more the real intellectuals of Haiti continue to stand on the side line with no action taken the more the ones without qualified knowledge will continue to reign in their absence and bring Haiti to its demise. I only feel sorry for any Haitian who didnt know the Haiti I grew up in cause they never will. I still have it at heart and in memory. -Widmack Belot.
