Here is a GREAT post I read this morning from my friend and mentor John Assaraf and I wanted to share with you: I am tired and I dont feel like it! Thats what my brain was saying this morning when I awoke and just felt tired and not wanting to go to train with my fitness trainer who was on her way to my home as she is daily. As I observed the Im tired thoughts and feelings I remembered something that I teach and preach. THE HABIT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE INTENSITY! So with that in mind, I dragged myself out of bed and followed my daily routine of grabbing a coffee and reading for 15 minutes. ( new 2015 plan ) Then I stumbled up to my home gym and did as much as I could ( about 50% of my capacity.) Then, as I do daily, I turned on my brain retraining meditation program and listened to 12 minutes of the program. Now why am I sharing this with you? The main reason is to help you understand that I have the same thoughts and feeling everyone else does with one exception. Through my personal growth path I have learned that I am not my thoughts or feelings. I have them and I can still override them and choose the actions I take. I have created a philosophy and a skill that drives my behaviors. When I dont feel like it I do a little anyway to show myself I can override that thought or feeling. Almost always when I do, I am able to do a little more than I thought I could. At the end, I feel so much better and have multiple wins. 1- I controlled my actions 2- I overrode my initial unpleasant or unproductive thought or feeling 3- I gained more confidence and certainty 4- I gained more energy and focus 5- I feel 100% better now! I can go on and on about the benefits of this but I think you get the pattern and belief I want you to develop. THE HABIT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE INTENSITY! If you dont feel like it.....do a little anyway. With this attitude and philosophy, you will gain the power of compounding small little actions and decisions to build the mental muscles that become your powerful habits and actions! You can do a little even when you dont feel like it or want to! THE HABIT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE INTENSITY! Choose powerful ones and success will be impossible not to achieve!
