Here is a draft of last nights meeting. November 25, 2014 The Aldermen of the City of Gilman City met for a regular board meeting November 25, 2014 at 5:15pm at city hall. The meeting was started with roll call. Mayor Michelle Cole, Aldermen Jack Prindle, Wendy Andersen, Dale Ratliff and Jim Wilson were present along with City Clerk Julie Cox, Utility Superintendent Larry Hyre, The minutes of the October 14, 2014 meeting was approved with a motion by Dale Wendy Andersen seconded by Dale Ratliff. Motion carried. The treasurer’s report was approved with a motion by Wendy Andersen, seconded by Jim Wilson. Motion carried. The bills to be paid were approved with a motion by Jim Wilson and seconded by Wendy Andersen. Motion carried. Larry Hyre’s report, and the purchase of a new voltmeter 2.4KVA to 5.0KVA for the primary voltage were approved with a motion by Jim Wilson, seconded by Jack Prindle. Motion carried. The voltmeter we have now is 28 years old and not working well. The Safety topic was read. Old Business: • Residents having farm animals, like pigs and chickens in town were discussed. Currently there is no ordinance regulating these animals. The City Clerk is to check with MML to see if they have a model ordinance for this and also a nuisance ordinance. • Letters are to be sent as a first step to the people still in violation of the height of the stovepipe on the outdoor woodstoves. The height the stovepipe needs to be is 18ft off the ground. They will be given 30 days to raise the height of the pipe. New Business: • Larry Hyre informed the board that he will be having back surgery the beginning of December. The board discussed what would happen if there was an ice storm or bad electrical outage that Karye couldn’t handle with Larry talking him through it. Larry stated that the city could get KCP&L to come help if necessary. • Jim Wilson asked Larry why the roads weren’t sanded last Sunday. Larry was on vacation and Karye was taking care of things. The roads were sanded first thing Monday morning after the storm was over. • Christmas lights were discussed and Wendy Andersen made a motion to get the toy wagon Christmas light that goes with the tractor that the city bought last year, Jim Wilson seconded, motion carried. (Jack Prindle-yes, Wendy Andersen-yes, Dale Ratliff-yes, Jim Wilson-yes) • Michelle Cole brought up a complaint from Steven Braden about his road, it was stated that any road repair will have to wait for warm weather. • Also the teenagers that came into town who stole items out of vehicles and shot animals were discussed, these teenagers were caught by the police in another town and the incidents have stopped. The Board urges you to call the Highway Patrol or Sheriff’s office if you see any of these things happening. Wendy Andersen made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Jim Wilson Motion carried.
