THE TORONTO FRINGE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: TD BANK YOUTH OUTREACH COORDINATOR The Toronto Fringe, through the generous support of TD Bank Financial Group, is seeking an exceptional individual with less than 5 years of related work experience to fill the position of TD Bank Youth Outreach Coordinator. This position, while requiring many leadership qualities, is ideal for emerging arts administrators who are still developing their careers and are interested in further training. This position is a full time 15 week full time position (April to mid-July) responsible for the execution of our main youth outreach programs and several other smaller community outreach activities, such as: 1) A production mentorship program with the Paprika Young Artists Festival 2) A professional development program for 30 emerging theatre entrepreneurs (ages 17-24) 3) Coordinating tickets donated to local youth 4) The 24 Hour Playwriting Contest during the Fringe Festival 5) Assisting the Office and Outreach Manager in the execution of various Fringe Club activities and programming 6) Conducting artist surveys and patron surveys and various other outreach activities Reporting to the Office and Outreach Manager, and working closely with many departments, the TD Bank Youth Outreach Coordinator will: Before Festival: · Publicize and promote the Toronto Fringe’s youth outreach programs · Liaise with Kids Up Front in distributing donated Fringe tickets to priority youth organizations · Alongside the Outreach Manager, assist in the hiring and supervision of a Youth Outreach Intern. · Track results of youth outreach programs; create reports on effectiveness; make recommendations on programs for future consideration. · Plan and execute logistics for the 24 Hour Playwriting Contest, including application intake and final reading. · Liaise with Paprika Festival staff members/mentors to assess progress of The 10 participants. · Assist Outreach Manager with promoting Tent Talks and Fringe Club programming. · Liaise with Visual Fringe Coordinator regarding youth outreach and the Visual Fringe · Liaise with the TD Young Producer and Fringe technicians regarding Fringe Club logistics, daily set-up and tear-down, info hubs, flash mobs, Visual Fringe performances and promotions. During Festival: · Help participants in youth outreach programs develop a wide-range of skills such as marketing, producing, and networking. · Supervise the participants of youth outreach programs as they prep for the Festival and while they are engaged in their in-festival duties: including on-site and off-site activities, workshops, talkbacks, seminars, flash mobs. · Run a Fringe Club info-hub for participants of the youth outreach program and attend all participant activities. We are searching for an energetic, passionate, hardworking individual with a keen interest in working with youth in the future, and who has an excellent understanding of the performing arts ecology in Toronto. Your work ethic must be impeccable and you must be able to equally appreciate the challenges and joys of working in a very fast-paced, very liberal, very creative and very demanding environment. Candidates should: · have 1-5 years working experience in youth outreach, teaching, facilitating, or running camps, classes or workshops (the funding for this position is meant to support emerging arts administrators) · have a strong desire to foster youth outreach and a passion for the value of performing arts · have overall knowledge of the Fringe Festival movement and philosophy of the Fringe, and its place in the performing arts community · have superior administrative and problem-solving skills and strong computer skills · have excellent verbal and written communication skills · be able to lead youth workshops in production, marketing and/or networking · have contacts or connections with youth organizations in priority neighbourhoods (recommended) · have experience supervising volunteers or large groups of young people (recommended) · have experience managing and tracking a large database of information (recommended) This 15 week full time contract position has moderate schedule flexibility, except in and around the summer festival (July 2 to 13, 2013) where more work is required.
