Here is a list of the most famous Egyptian dancers I watched over and over when I was learning. We used to go to our teacher (Evelyn Hamseys) house in Miami and she would cook Arabic food and show us videos. Not everyone had a VCR in the early 80s. Then, in Sao Paolo, Brazil, I would go to the Arabic music store of Tony Mouzayek and watch videos. Thats when I learned about Mona El Said. We are so lucky to have Youtube. Notice how there is not one Egyptian style. They all have individuality. Nadia Jamal, 1971 (She was the last Egyptian dancer trained by Badia Masabni, and became the biggest dance star in Lebanon.
