Here is a poem Cindy wrote for her Father. The preacher had the wagon brought to the funeral and also had the poem handed out. It goes like this. -----------------------------------------TO DAD.--------------------------------------- I know words for all occasions, and have used them all with ease. But now they seem beyond me, aloft on an April breeze. I want to tell you thank you, and I want to ask you why? But all that I am thinking, is that it was too soon to say good bye. Things werent always easy, you worked hard all your life. and no one knows that better, than your children and your wife. Sometimes you seemed amazing, with the things that you could do. Many a friend would testify , they had learned to rely on you. From a room addition or fixing a van, Bar-b-q-ing or fixing a fan. If things needed doing, you would get the job done. And while you were doing it, you seemed to have fun. But of all the jobs you have taken, and all thats come before Getting ready to be a grandpa, just seemed to suit you more. A red wooden wagon you made with such joy, to give as a present to Grandpas little boy . You wouldnt let us tell you, but I think that you knew, I was naming him John, in honor of you. I wish you had stayed till the new job was done, but till next we meet Dad, All of our love, from me and my Son.
