Here is a re-post from Brian Korslin at OS Rapids that doesnt show up on this pages timeline for some reason: So there we were, Oct 30,2014 @3:45. Another captive anti union meeting at Ocean Spray Wisconsin Rapids. “Are there any questions?” The usual silence was broken by a “I have one.” “Are there any more NLRB charges that were not settled by the previous case?” Mice Stamatakos, with a deer in the headlights look, hesitatingly replied “Not to my knowledge.” He then looked over to Bob Oswald, who with an awkward pause, said “No.” Kirk Willard was sitting somewhere behind me, but he did not say anything at all. Well this is simply not true. There is another trial that will be at the Wisconsin Rapids City Hall on Monday January 26,2015 at 1pm. In fact, it was delayed as it was supposed to be on December first. The case number is 18-CA-133026. I find it highly unlikely that none of the three members of the management team leading the charge against our organizing effort knew nothing about this case. I feel that they not only LIED to me, but to everyone in the room. So much for the NO TRICKS JUST THE TRUTH that they keep telling us. They really want us to understand that pensions are “BAD”. Their big selling point is that in 2009 the IAM pension was under funded. Did you know that Ocean Spray had a pension too? Out of the blue, we were told that Ocean Spray was no longer going to offer a pension, and unless you met certain conditions, your benefits were going to be frozen. Guess what, that was 2009! Going back it the way back time machine to the year 2009, there was this thing going on called “The Great Recession”. The whole stock market took a crash. How many people do you know that lost fifty thousand dollars or more from their 401k’s? Management makes a claim that an employee, discussing with a supervisor, that the union promises that not only will we get a pension, we will get service credit back to their hire date. In all the meetings that I have been to, the only promise I had heard is that we will negotiate for what we want. As far as I know the pension was only discussed once, and we were told that they used to do back service credit, but no longer do that. Now could someone have been mistaken on what was discussed? I guess it does sound plausible, except that they just lied. Which supervisor? Which employee? Maybe they could stand up in this meeting and prove that management is not just making this up as well. I would encourage everyone, no matter which way you plan on voting, to attend the next union meeting on Wednesday, either 2pm or 4:30pm. We will be discussing a pre-contract survey to determine what we want to negotiate for. I am sure that both sides will negotiate in “good faith”. Of course once a contract is agreed too, it then comes back to us employees where we get to vote on whether we find it acceptable or not. As the Crown Jewel of Ocean Spray, why would we accept Less? And that is their fear. Thank you for taking the time to read my view. Brian Korslin
