Here is an Egyptian man who insist on being classified as being Black, not white. According to Directive 15 for the Federal Office of Management and Budget Standards for the Classification of Federal Data on Race and Ethnicity, a “white” person is defined as “a person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, North Africa or the Middle East.” Now this man with a PhD is struggling with getting a job, bankruptcy and other matters because he insisted on refusing being classified as being white. Many of those who call themselves Arabs I know of loved to be classified as being white in this country because of the implications in this racist country and association of power and being white. Arabs themselves take different phenotypes but the original ones could easily mix with African people, and not because of miscegenation just as the phenotype of original Hebrews were different ranges of phenotype including being very dark pigmented.
