Here is an excerpt from the National Weather Service in Sterling, VAs long term forecast discussion: A LARGE...POWERFUL LOW (LOWER MSLP THAN THE CURRENT LOW) IS EXPECTED TO CROSS THE GREAT LAKES LATE NEXT WEEK...WITH AN ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT BRINGING A NOTABLE RAIN EVENT TO THE MID-ATLANTIC IN THE FRIDAY TIMEFRAME. QUITE THE DYNAMICS WITH A STRONG LLJ AHEAD OF THE SYSTEM THAT COULD MIX DOWN DAMAGING WINDS ACCORDING TO BOTH THE 12Z GFS AND 00Z ECMWF (MORE SO FROM THE GFS). WILL HAVE TO WATCH FOR THIS POTENTIAL IN THE COMING DAYS. This system needs to be watched. Models continue to indicate it will be quite strong for such an inland low pressure with latest output showing near 980 with the Euro below that. Strong winds are definitely a possibility with high pressure offshore and such a strong low pressure over the GLakes region. I will be sure to watch this as it could be a rather significant for portions of the area, not to mention regions south and east of the center in the Mid-West could be facing strong winds and heavy rains. I will be sure to monitor this system through the week. However, one important note: I will likely be staying after school completes each day to help work on the building and painting the set for our high school play and as a result I will be home later on the last week of the marking period and I will not have very much time at all to post considering I have to study for test that week. Ill have to see what time I could make between studying and working and building. Otherwise, have a good night and moderating temperatures back towards and eventually above normal are expected through the week! :)
