Here is an informational video that explains how the 1% Sales Tax works. Two important points to remember are 1) The General Assembly cant touch this money. It goes from the Department of Revenue to the Regional Office of Education to the schools. 2) It can ONLY be used to lower property taxes, or construct or maintain schools (no salaries, no pensions, etc.).
