The Port of Long Beach opened a new off-dock depot for empty containers aimed at easing congestion - truckers can now drop off an empty container at the storage depot but retain the bare chassis for another drayage move. Chassis maintenance and repair is likely a primary reason for stalled talks between the PMA and ILWU. West Coast ports continue to face congestion with long wait times for container pickups, and turn times remain limited to one container per driver per day.
